Furthermore, we're both young and active people, normally we'd go on a romantic hike with a picnic or something, but I've recently had a major knee injury and cannot do anything beyond normal walking before our anniversary. I, myself, still have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that I’ve actually been in a relationship for over a year. And it doesn’t mean you have to smother them in expensive gifts or elaborate dates. Women just want to feel like they still make you nervous and that you are thinking about them in unique ways and wanting to make a good impression on them. It levels the playing field and brings you both back to neutral.

No cheating, no “breaks”, not even too many silent treatments. From the first date, when I walked up in a navy shirt and black shorts, the look on her face said enough. Sure, some guys are able to blend the colors and pull it off in the magazines. It can be as simple as opening the car door, or spending time with her family when she’s gone, or not farting in her car. Making yourself vulnerable makes you so much stronger in her eyes.

But just because you get married doesn’t mean you have to forget the special day you met, or kissed, or you know — yadda yadda yadda. They should celebrate the shit out of each other if they want.

I would expect at least a meal out but as the previous poster says men don't think like that.I think it's good to mark important dates and make an effort as it keeps your relationship alive and exciting x I'm sorry but your first anniversary IS important, it should be celebrated, you can go as low key as a takeaway and a cuddle on the sofa or a slap up meal out, it's up to you but it should be marked, if he isn't the romantic type why don't you do something, I always organize our anniversary as I know my hubby wouldn't think to, it's not that's he doesn't love me, he's just not that kind of guy, it doesn't bother me and I enjoy doing it.
